Provider Alert!

Provider Alert! Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) Master Provider File Launch Date has been Postponed

Date: March 1, 2023
Attention: All Providers

Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated to the COVID-19 event.  TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event.

Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to inform providers that the launch date for the Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) Master Provider File (MPF) and decommissioning of the Combined Master Provider File (COMBMPF) has been postponed from the March 1, 2023 date, as originally planned. The delay is due to issues with missing Texas Provider Identifier (TPI) numbers for individual program practice locations and the missing Provider Type and/or Specialty codes for certain providers on the new PEMS MPF.

Current status: The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is currently conducting a readiness assessment with three Managed Care Organizations. A new launch date will be communicated by HHSC once the assessment is completed. TCHP will share this information with you when it becomes available.
Next steps for providers: Providers should ensure they are properly enrolled in PEMS by validating their enrollment at https://www.tmhp.com/topics/provider-enrollment/pems/start-application and clicking on revalidation. Visit  https://www.tmhp.com/topics/provider-enrollment/provider-enrollment-help should you have any questions. Providers should also visit thecheckup.org or www.texaschildrenshealthplan.org/for-providers for communication on the new MPF launch date.
