Provider Alert! Prior authorization is no longer required for Mental Health Targeted Case Management and Mental Health Rehabilitative Services

Attention: Local Mental Health Authority, Behavioral Health Providers 

Effective date: August 22, 2022

Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated to the COVID-19 event.  TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event.

Call to action: Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) would like to inform network providers that beginning August 22, 2022, a prior authorization is no longer required for Mental Health Targeted Case Management (MHTCM) and Mental Health Rehabilitative Services.

For MHTCM Procedure Code T1017 and the appropriate modifier for MHTCM:

As a reminder, all out of network providers will require a prior authorization and when services requested are beyond the benefit limitations.
