Provider Alert! HHSC to Request Extension of EVV Cures Act Home Health Care Services Implementation to January 1, 2024

Date: April 26, 2022

Attention: Personal Care Services, Financial Management Services Agencies and CDS employers

Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated with the COVID-19 event.  TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event.

Call to action: To update our provider network, federal law requires states to implement Electronic Visit Verification for Medicaid home health care services by January 1, 2023.

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will request a good faith effort (GFE) exemption from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to extend this deadline by one year. CMS will begin accepting GFE requests in July 2022. HHSC plans to submit a request at that time and expects to receive a response from CMS within 30 days.
