Provider Alert! Texas Medicaid and CHIP Immunization Alert – Vaccines for Specific Ages

Attention: All Providers
Providers should monitor the Texas Children’s Health Plan (TCHP) Provider Portal regularly for alerts and updates associated to the COVID-19 event. TCHP reserves the right to update and/or change this information without prior notice due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 event.
Call to action: The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the following vaccines for children and adolescents. Please refer to this guide when scheduling your patients’ annual well visit.
Ages | Vaccines |
4 Through 6 | Chickenpox, DTaP, MMR, Polio, Flu (annually) |
7 Through 10 | All listed ages 4-6, Flu (annually) |
11 Through 12 | All listed ages 4-10, Flu (annually), HPV, meningococcal conjugate (1st dose), Tdap |
13 Through 18 | All listed ages 4-12, Flu (annually), meningococcal conjugate (2nd dose), Serogroup B meningococcal |
Vaccines are available through the Texas Vaccines for Children Program for Medicaid and CHIP providers. Join TCHP in raising awareness to protect people from vaccine preventable diseases.
How this impacts providers: Texas Medicaid would like providers to improve the reporting of immunizations in the statewide ImmTrac Registry and apply the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) immunization schedules and recommendations.
